Putting our plan into action
Youth: 1. Provide school holiday provision for 5-18yr olds 2. Improve early years provision by supporting the establishment of baby and toddler groups, and improve facilities and support on the estate. 3. Work with our local schools and host a school conference to encourage young people to have a voice and influence. 4. Establish projects and support aimed at helping young people deal with mental health issues. 5. Support tutoring schemes and schools to help our young residents reach their full educational potential. 6. Continue to support weekly youth provision ran by Sportsworks and the sports clubs based on Sale West.
Environment & Community Spaces 1. Support and contribute to the construction of a new community centre. 2. Continue to improve and develop Sale West Woods following the installation of new infant and junior playgrounds. 3. Develop and maintain Phoenix Gardens. 4. Hold an annual apple day event which raises the profile of all the green spaces on the estate. 5. Work with Sale West Allotment to improve its facilities and membership. 6. Work to create greater community links to surrounding green spaces.
Health and Wellbeing: 1. Provide regular trips off the estate for all residents of all ages to places of interest. 2. Support groups such as Sporting Memories and Strictly Lunch which help to improve health and wellbeing. 3. Support the Food Share initiative and The Bread and Butter Thing. 4. Work with the community to establish a heritage project of the estate. 5. Support schemes to improve physical wellbeing. 6. Organise the Community Christmas Lunch and Hampers.
Training and Employment: 1. Provide a Community Information Hub Coordinator whereby residents can get advice and support on dealing with debt, training needs and gaining employment. 2. Support new training courses for residents. 3. Support local initiatives through our Community Grant scheme. 4. Provide Citizens Advice drop in sessions once a week. 5. Organise career and jobs fairs. 6. Support the DWP Youth hub at Sale West. 7. Support other schemes to help residents get back into employment such as Working Wardrobe.
